Award Named for NYSSCPA Member

The achievements of NYSSCPA member Sidney Kess, the author of numerous books and a speaker at countless events and workshops, will be remembered for years to come through the creation of an award named in his honor. The creation of the award, called the Sidney Kess Award for Excellence in Continuing Education, was announced by the AICPA yesterday. It recognizes individual CPAs in either taxes or financial planning who have made significant contributions to their field and whose public service “exemplifies the CPA profession’s values and ethics.” According to the AICPA, only one CPA can get the award in any given year and the organization has the option of not giving it to anyone if it feels there are no appropriate candidates.
